Seattle Travel Journaling and Essay Writing Safari

Terms and Conditions

(And other irritating but necessary disclaimers)

Cancellation and Refund Policy

The cost to participate is $149. You may request a full refund within 72 hours of reserving your space and sending your payment. Otherwise, if you have taken up a space in the journaling safari that could have gone to somebody else, certain restrictions apply in regard to refunds:

If you sign up and cannot attend, you may transfer your spot to any other person who you can find. (If you do this, please let Dave know ahead of time so they are confirmed for the class.) If you cannot find anyone to take your place, but there is a waiting list of people who wish to participate, and your space can be given to one of those people, you will receive a refund for the full amount.

If nobody is wait-listed to fill your space, you may cancel up to 72 hours prior to the event, and you will receive a refund, minus a $30 cancellation fee. If you cancel less than 72 hours in advance, you will receive a refund, minus a $50 cancellation fee. In the event that you receive either of these partial refunds, you may keep your copy of Dave Fox's book, Globejotting. You may also apply the cancellation fee toward a future journaling safari if Dave offers them again in the future.

Because space is limited, no refunds can be given for partial participation in this event. (In other words, if you only show up for one day, you must still pay for the full event.)

You must contact Dave in advance to request a refund. If you do not contact him to cancel, and simply do not show up, no refunds will be given, except under highly unusual emergency circumstances, at Dave's sole discretion.

Payment

Once your space in the journaling safari has been confirmed, Dave will send you instructions on how to send payment. He will accept payment online with a credit card, or with a check or money order through the mail. If you send a check or money order, please mail it within two days of receiving your e-mail confirmation in order to hold your spot. Please do not send cash!

Other Legal Stuff Dave Needs to Tell You

Dave is a reasonable guy, as are most of the people who take his classes. Unfortunately, a few opportunistic people out there make the following statements necessary. Dave thanks you nice people for understanding his need to tell you the following:

Writing is not a high-risk activity; however, driving in certain circumstances, talking to strangers, etc., can be. In signing up for this journaling safari, you agree to take full responsibility for your actions and any resulting consequences, and agree not to hold Dave liable for anything that happens to you along the way.

You further understand that alcohol will be served at some of these activities. If you are not of legal drinking age, you are still welcome to participate in all activities, and consume non-alcoholic beverages. (Please do not ask Dave or the Pig & Whistle staff to serve you alcohol if you are not of legal drinking age.) You agree to take responsibility for your own actions, to drink in moderation, especially if driving, and to behave in a manner that is not disruptive to the rest of the group. You agree that if Dave considers your behavior inappropriate for any reason, he has the right to ask you to leave, and no refund will be given.

If you choose to, you may publish your completed essay from this seminar on Dave's website at traveljournaling.com. (This is optional!) Dave is a pretty open-minded guy; however, he reserves the right to reject, edit, or censor any content he deems intolerant, mean-spirited, or otherwise objectionable for any reason.

(Dave believes strongly in freedom of speech, but hey... it's his website! He's happy to tell you where you can go to start your own website and say anything you want.)
